Recipe adapted from: Taco Meat
Ingredients
1.5 pounds lean ground beef
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely diced
½ cup chopped tomatoes
2 garlic cloves, minced
11/2 teaspoons cumin powder
11/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup of water
2 green onions, sliced
pinch of cayenne or red pepper (optional)
Directions
First, Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Second, When the oil is hot, add the ground beef and cook for 4 to 5 minutes or until it is no longer pink.
Third, Add the tomatoes and onions, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes or until the onions have started to soften.
Fourth, Add all of the seasonings and the garlic, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until fragrant.
Fifth, Add the water, and bring to a simmer.
Sixth, Cover the pan, and simmer for approximately 5 minutes.
Seventh, Uncover and continue to cook until most of the liquid has evaporated which will take approximately 5 more minutes.
Eighth, Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the green onions.
Ninth, Taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking.
